It's sad that I get excited when it's Saturday and I can get the early edition of the Sunday paper. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning looking for what is on sale this week and matching them up with my coupons. Today I was able to get Starbucks ice cream for $.25! I honestly feel gitty inside waiting to tell Josh while I drive home. I even saved us money in Hawaii when I wasn't even trying. Safeway and Fred Meyer have e-coupons you load to your club card online, then when you check out the money just comes off the total. Most times I add anything to it I think I might get someday (I work very hard to not buy things we don't need just because they are on sale). So we went to Safeway to get cereal for breakfast and bought some that I forgot I had an e-coupon for. This just happen to bring our total down to an amount we had in cash saving us from having to use our debit card. I literally skipped out the store!
I tend to have one awesome deal a week, if it's not free, it's only bits of change. However, lately I have really been trying to focus on good deals rather then just the freebies. Freebies are great, but they really don't bring down you grocery budget for the month. So part of my sickness is that I keep a spreadsheet. One that tells me what the regular cost is at Walmart and Winco. How do I really know if I am getting a good deal if I don't know what the lowest price in town is right? So today I saw that Bounce dryer sheets were on sale at Safeway, sale price equaling Walmarts everyday price. The catch is with the manufacturer coupon, the Safeway double coupon, and the e-coupon, I was able to get the item for another $1 off the Walmart price. Now paying a buck for dryer sheets is not as exciting as the Starbucks ice cream, but knowing that I saved that money now instead of being stuck with the full price when I actually need it later, that's fun!!! I think I would do this even if Josh made six digits a year, haha!
