One Month Old

Alexander is one month old today. I thought it would be fun for the first year of his life to take a picture on the 25th of each month in the same place. It will be a fun way to watch him grow. And no, he is not sitting up on his own He is just strong enough to keep himself up when I sit him that way.

Caught on Camera

I caught it!! He is the cutest thing I have ever seen!!
It might not be the biggest smile, but my camera has a delay
so I am happy that I just got part of it.
He is so handsome

Smiling at mommy

Alexander really smiled at me today. It was the sweetest thing ever. I know it was not gas because it happened several times in a row and he made a little cooing noise with it. I loved it so much that it made me cry. We have had a rough couple days. His doctor thinks he has acid reflux because of the way he has been acting when he eats. We started medication yesterday and I think I am already seeing a small difference. For example, he has not taken a nap lying down in several days and today he took a two hour nap on the couch. Eating is not totally better yet, but the doctor said it would take a few days. I will post some more pictures soon. I am going to try to get one of him smiling so you can see how wonderful he is!!!

To the Zoo

Alexander and I took our first trip to the Zoo on Saturday (7/14). I was very nervous in that it took an hour to get there and we would be out for several hours. He did great. He as a little fussy at first, but Meghan brought her double stroller and he fell right asleep in that for the first half of the day, then after a nice meal he spent the rest of the day in his front pack. I look forward to a time when he enjoys seeing the animals as much as Kiley and Nika did.
He is so tiny right now you can't even see him in the pack!!

How great has it been to be a mom. Alex is such a wonderful baby and we love being parents. I feel like I am learning something new every day. Today I have been on the phone trying to figure out why he has started to fuss when he eats. The pediatric clinic thinks he is eating to fast and is getting gas, or it might be something I am eating. I have an appointment on Tuesday so I am going to cut a few things out of my diet until then and see if it changes. If not, we are talking acid reflux. I do not think it is colic because he is not fussy any other time. This is the joy of being a mother, changing my days from working on church projects to watching every move of my child to make sure he is okay.
In other news, we think that his hair is starting to turn my color. In curtain light it totally has a dark brown look to it. I also think that curtain facial expressions show some of his daddies features. If I had a baby picture of Josh I could really show you, but for now I will just give you a copy of a picture I took last week when giving him a sponge bath. It totally looks like he has some Josh features in this picture to me.

The First One

Welcome!
I am so exctied to start this blog. As everyone knows, Josh and I are now a growing family, and with so much of our extended family living miles away, I was looking for an easier way to stay connected with everyone. I will no longer be blogging on myspace. It is just not the best way to stay in touch. So please let me know if you want to be on the list of people who receive an email whenever there is an update or you can just check in from time to time and see what's up with Josh, myself, and little Alex. I will be posting pictures shortly of our first two weeks as a newly growing family.
Much love,
Katie
